1. Information We Collect
Account information
When you create a PavePlace account we collect your name, email address, phone number, role (homeowner, contractor, trucker, or supplier), and any password or authentication credential you provide.
Profile and verification information
Contractors, truckers, and suppliers are required to submit additional information to be listed on the platform, which may include:
- Business name, address, and contact details
- State contractor license number and documentation
- Certificate of insurance
- Government-issued identification
- Background-check consent and results [Attorney to confirm: applicable federal and state background-check disclosure and authorization requirements, including FCRA compliance obligations]
Location and job addresses
To facilitate matches between parties, we collect the service address or location associated with jobs you post or accept. We may also collect approximate device location when you use certain in-app features, subject to your device permissions.
Payment information
Payment card and banking information is collected and processed by our third-party payment processor. [Attorney to confirm: name the processor; confirm what, if any, payment data PavePlace itself stores vs. what is tokenized by the processor; confirm PCI DSS scope]. PavePlace does not store full payment card numbers.
Content you submit
We collect the content you create or upload through the platform, including job descriptions and photos, quotes and bids, messages sent between parties, portfolio images, and reviews and ratings.
Device and usage data
We automatically collect certain technical information when you use the app or website, including device type and operating system, IP address, app version, pages and features accessed, and crash and performance data. [Attorney to confirm: whether any analytics or advertising SDKs are used that require additional disclosure]
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate and maintain the PavePlace marketplace
- Connect homeowners with contractors, truckers, and suppliers based on job requirements and location
- Verify the eligibility, licensing, and insurance of contractors and other service-side users
- Facilitate payments and escrow releases through our third-party payment processor
- Send transactional notifications (quotes received, job updates, messages, payment status)
- Improve, debug, and develop new features of the platform
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service
- Comply with applicable legal obligations
[Attorney to confirm: whether any use of personal data for marketing, profiling, or analytics requires a separate legal basis or opt-in under applicable law, including Massachusetts and any other states where users are located]
3. How We Share Information
Between matched parties
When a homeowner posts a job and a contractor, trucker, or supplier responds, PavePlace shares the information necessary to facilitate that interaction — including contact details, job address, and profile information — with the relevant matched parties.
Service providers
We share information with third-party service providers that help us operate the platform, including:
- Payment processors, for escrow and disbursement [Attorney to confirm: list processor name(s) and confirm data-sharing terms are in place]
- Background-check providers, for contractor and trucker verification [Attorney to confirm: list provider name(s); confirm FCRA-compliant consumer report disclosures are made at the point of consent]
- Cloud infrastructure and database providers
- Communication services (push notifications, email)
We require service providers to protect your information consistent with this policy and applicable law.
Legal and safety disclosures
We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request; to protect the rights or safety of PavePlace, our users, or the public; or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. [Attorney to confirm: any required notice obligations to users before or after such disclosures]
We do not sell personal information
PavePlace does not sell your personal information to third parties. [Attorney to confirm: whether any data-sharing arrangements could be characterized as a "sale" under applicable state law, including the CCPA or any Massachusetts equivalent]
4. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect the information we collect against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Sensitive data such as verification documents is stored with access controls and encryption in transit and at rest.
No security system is impenetrable. We cannot guarantee that our safeguards will prevent every unauthorized access to or use of your information. [Attorney to confirm: any specific security certifications, standards (e.g. SOC 2), or breach notification obligations under applicable state law]
5. Your Choices and Rights
You may access and update most of your account information directly within the PavePlace app. You may also:
- Opt out of marketing communications by following the unsubscribe link in any email or adjusting notification settings in the app
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account (see Section 6)
[Attorney to confirm: whether users in Massachusetts or other applicable states have additional statutory rights (e.g. under a state privacy law) and what response timelines and procedures are required]
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@paveplace.com.
6. Account Deletion
You may request deletion of your PavePlace account at any time through the in-app settings or by emailing hello@paveplace.com. Upon a valid deletion request we will delete or anonymize your personal information, subject to the exceptions below.
We may retain certain information after a deletion request where necessary to:
- Complete open transactions or resolve outstanding disputes
- Comply with legal, tax, or financial record-keeping obligations
- Detect or prevent fraud and enforce our Terms of Service
- Comply with applicable law or a lawful government request
[Attorney to confirm: specific retention periods for financial records, background-check results, and any other categories subject to mandatory retention under federal or state law]
7. Children's Privacy
PavePlace is not directed to children under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a minor has submitted information through our platform, please contact us at hello@paveplace.com.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where required by applicable law, provide additional notice (such as an in-app notification or email). Your continued use of PavePlace after the effective date of a revised policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
[Attorney to confirm: whether any changes to data practices require affirmative re-consent rather than a notice-and-continued-use approach under applicable law]
